There are some option codes, as you probably know, that Porsche just likes to throw in to keep you guessing. No one really ever knows what they are. I had one about a month ago on an '89 GT, option code 639. I posed that question on Rennlist, and found that the question had been asked many times before about option 639, but no one had an answer.
In this case, option code 718 is the one in question. There are many Porsche option decoder sites on the internet, mainly Charlie Kindel's that are more thorough than that of the Registry (no discredit to Chuck, his site is terrific, but limited mostly to just the 928 series).
As far as option code 596 goes, that is a very rare option! It states that the rear spoiler is painted with a matte finish. This does not mean that it is just like an S4 spoiler, but rather a smooth fiberglass GTS spoiler painted matte black. Very unusual!

I'm sure those codes stand for some sort of special leather goodies on your car! Your particular 928 GT (and I know it well) may have been brought back to the assembly line several times while they were waiting to slaughter more cows!
