During our meet up Saturday the Euro had a little mishap. I am going to just paste Dr. Bobs assessment from the socal website to save me some typing.
"For those reading along at home, Joe moved wide on a corner to avoid a car that looked like it was coming hard across into his lane. The shoulder was plenty wide where he drifted off line, but it was sand/loose stuff and there was a risk of coming back across the road hard. Joe chose the safe route by not over-correcting, and ended up bumping a rock face pretty hard, doing some significant suspension damage to the right front of the car. Even with the damage he was able to keep the car from bouncing back into traffic, and held the car tight on the right shoulder. Ron was immediately behind him and will surely have some words to share about what he saw. Nobody was hurt, and that's the most important thing."
I have taken some pics of the ugliness. The ride was going great and it was awesome meeting up with some new folks. I must say without a doubt these cars are so well built. Even after the hit I did not get any warning lights, the engine stayed running and still runs excellent. I even drove it into the garage with no wheel. Last pic should give you an idea how that was done.

I will post better pics later. I have better ones but they are to big. Needless to say I will need an entire front right suspension and a right fender so start digging.

Wow Joe... glad nobody was hurt, but sorry about the shark.
I guess that's one way to get you to clean out your wheelwell though... then you'll be doing the other side to match... then the rears of course.

Is that a Corvette poster on the wall? My 928 would never stand for that.
Kidding aside, glad to see your ok and the shark held up. Could have been much worse.

Phew - too close - but a good save made by quick thinking!
Hope the A-arm pick up points and rack mount locations are unmoved: if so, I hope you can get away with just 'bolt on' work.

Joe et al.,
So glad to hear you are all OK and that the red Euro will live to see another twisty road. Meanwhile, my hunch is that you can find any and all parts you need here on the list or at the B3. Why not post on the 928 Freebies thread and see what you can get in trade or in kind?
Cheers,
Tim

Joe, I gotta tell ya, you are a lucky s.o.b. if that is the extent of the damage. I know Ron was behind you and had a better view of the "stunt" driving, but from my rear view, I saw a pretty bad situation developing. I was just a few feet ahead of the dust cloud your car created and all I saw were headlights dancing in the dusk. Sounded like you hit rather hard too.
Looking at the car in the aftermath up on the mountain was amazing also. I would have guessed the whole side of the car was taken out, aside from the entire steering/cross member, bent tube rails, cracked oil pan, etc.
No Sh*t, these cars ARE built like tanks!
Keep us posted.

Thanks Guys.
It is a true assessment that the cars are built like brick ****houses. I am sure the damage underneath is much worse and if it is then it is. I'll go from there. Only the fender was affected and that is because of the wheel. No fluids leaking and the car is running without a burp. No fluids on the flatbed plus we ran the car for awhile in intervals so the 6 ways would not kill the battery on us. BTW looking for one 8.5" 2 pc BBS wheel
