I drove a guy's mint '82 US 928s 5-sp two days ago, and I had a great time. That car's numbers 220hp/265tq are not super impressive, but there's so much more to a car than 0-60 times. I had a '78 US 5-sp ten years ago, and I had the best time driving that car.

If you don't have any twisty roads in your area, you are missing out on how good 928s are. At SITM I met a cool guy from the Florida Keys who was amazed to drive on such twisties that he doesn't have at home. He also noticed he needed new shocks.

If your 928 is not fast enough for you, get a later model. If that's not enough, the supercharger is for you. OR move to the mountains. I think any 928 will give a great drive if it has been maintained, and the driver understands its strengths and weaknesses.

The downside to modifying a car is that if it does suddenly become a collectible car, people will want the cars that are true to their history. All original cars will be the desired vehicles of choice. I think it is cool to have a sleeper and blow off some chump in a new car he has spent literally tens of thousands of dollars on. But would I do this to my car? No way. It is all stock and in too good of shape to modify. If I had the know how would I buy a car in need of work that is too expensive to bring back to stock and modify it as a toy? You bet.....

Heck, if you want a car to modify, buy a car like mine. It's "pre-hacked" so I've got no worrys about collectors! As best as I can tell, somebody got into a minor accident that they didn't report, and repaired it in a reasonable mannor.

If I supercharge, and modify this car till the engine pures, and puts out more hp than I can get on the ground with stock rubber, I'll be happy. To bad I'm too broke to start right now...
