Question the very last 928 produced

I'm sure this questions been asked before, but it's late and I'm to tired to do a search.

My question is, what color combo and options are on the very last 928 produced? I would assume that it's located in the Porsche museum in Germany, but I would like to know more about it and possibly see some pictures if anyone has any.

Thanks in advance. I'm going to bed right now, but maybe it will give me something to check out in the AM!

LM,
I believe it was a very GREEN metallic (custom - paint to sample) GTS. I'll see if I can digout this info for you...someone else likely will beat me to it, however.
Cheers,
Tim

EDIT -
Thanks Jim...I knew someone would have this info readily available. I heard rumor that this car was in Florida....anyone know for sure?

EDIT -
Jim, now that you mention it...I recall a discussion about this car being exported to Europe as well. What does Chuck Z know about it from the 928 Registry side of things? Yo Chuck!!!!

Perlglanz green/yellow

As I recall, the interior is full custom supple leather, done in green/yellow (lime) w/purple piping. Also, I recall the car had moved to the other side of the pond since Florida. I'll search the email list on that as that is where I remember reading that.

Tha last 928 was kept by the factory. The lime green 928 was supposed to be the last one made and the owner to be ordered it with this assumption. When he found out it was not going to be the very last one he bailed. the car was sold at champion Porsche in FL and I believe now is somewhere in europe...

It is possible that the blue GTS shown at the 25th anniversary party in Stuttgart was the very last one. However, this is pure speculation on my part at this time. Maybe Rich or any of the other attendees might be able to give more details about that one.

Also, there is quite a bit of information on the lime green one on Chuck Zach's 928 registry website. Can't find the link right now...

Can't remember who it was (928cs maybe) who said there are newer cars in France than either pearlglanz GTS or factorys blue GTS. One thing is sure, pearlglanz isn't last one made.

As far as I know, the car is still in France and the information on the link to my web site Erkka provided is still correct. I sure would like to have this car and if anyone ever does see it for sale please let me know. Also, if anyone happens to see this car with its owner, please let him/her know I would like to buy it.

hey Chuck, is there a European version of your registry site? I'd like to know how many early ones are still out there other than in the US

Rixter,

There is a site. Not very accurate though, he has my car on the site with an incorrect VIN.

Other than above there's only Club Sport registry http://mapage.noos.fr/928cs/ run by 928cs. Nothing for earlier cars. Difficult to follow them here as none of the adds in Europe include VIN. In Finland we have '78 #16 and #221. Some other early cars as well but I don't know their chassis numbers.

Never seen #16 but have seen some pictures of it. It's US model imported here several years ago. Oddly there's identical car in Chuck's site with same sequence number. http://www.928registry.org/1977-928-0016.htm Only thing is, 928 810 0016 would make it Euro model and pic shows US version. Local one I have seen pics of is 928 820 0016, making it US model like it should. Both are red. EBay ad is either mistake/hoax or there's something fishy in local cars history. It has had more than one owner here already so I suspect eBay ad to be false.

#221 is relatives car. It shares barn with my '92 #410.

Good morning!

Now I've heard plenty about the second to last pearlglanz model, but have yet to get verification of the actual, final, end of the line, last to ever be produced 928. I would assume that it has to be resting in the Porsche museum somewhere. By the way, is the museum located in Stuttgart? I'm traveling there in the fall for vacation and just wouldn't consider the vacation complete without a stop to the 928 birthplace.

Seems like someone on this site would have a pic and some info on this car. The second to last pearlglanz model has gotten more than enough recognition, so you would think that the actual last model would get just as much, if not more attention.

Out of curiosity...did the pearlglanz model described in wonderful detail on Chuck Z's site get so much attention (in print and amongst enthusiasts) because it was the last U.S.-specification GTS? I believe I saw info and a photo on the very "last 928" (at the factory museum) on a Rennlist thread or maybe a website...seems it was trotted out at the werks for the Euro 928 meet that Nicole mentioned in her post above. It was a dark color...maybe blue or black? The photo I saw only showed the car from the rear p/s 3/4 view...
Best,
Tim

Thank you all for your help. I will be heading to Stuttgart this fall and believe me, I'll be looking for and taking as many pictures as my camera can hold of the "last 928" to be produced. I'll also take pics of any other 928's of interest that I may come across.
