A/C Relay replacement
Ok folks, I am about to replace the A/C relay in HVAC head unit in my '94 GTS. Sometimes the A/C works fine, like about 10 days ago. This week, nothing.
The existing relay looks to be a 2 amp unitSDS Relays, DSP2a-DC12V. I bought the Radio Shack 10 amp relay, 275-0218.
I have printed Dr. Bob's diagram and instructions (note to self, get magnifying glass to read the .pdf file from Dr. Bob).
Can anyone tell me where to get a solder wick or vacuum desoldering tool? I will make a call to Radio Shack tomorrow. Hope to get this done on Saturday morning. When the A/C works, it blows nice and cold, about 33 degrees F from the top vent.
I will take pics and post when done. Wish me luck.

Radio Shack will have the solder wick. Generally I find it easier to remove components like this using a very narrow-nozzle heat gun to heat all the pins simultaneously. When they are all melted, pull the relay then clean up the holes with solder wick and a soldering iron. Solder wick alone will not be enough to completely desolder the old pins. Also, the little spring-loaded "solder sucker" vacuum unit is going to be useless if the circuit board has that heavy varnish on it. They are nearly useless under the best of circumstances.
