Default Unknown sensor?

85 US 32v. Found this sensor just dangling in the engine bay on passenger side. Anyone know what it might be? Don't see anything for it to be attached to, so a little stumped.

Looks like it’s part of the coolant pressure switch, should be on the coolant hose close to the reservoir

Interesting, I don't see that anywhere on the side. I hope the PO didn't delete it, although I don't see a reason why someone would delete it. Would deleting it be beneficial in anyway?? Everytime I see something weird in mine I get confused with the PO haha.

Deletion is a common solution to a problem that impacts every 928 fitted with those things sooner or later. You will probably see a short length of copper pipe where that sensor used to sit about 6 inches or so in front of the expansion tank. You will probably find the connector dangling in the breeze.

That thing serves no real world purpose and when it fails the system cannot pressurise.

It looks like the PO just put a new pipe that doesn't even have the cut out, so I guess I'll just disconnect the sensor and move on.
