1980 rear speaker size
Factory 1980 928 rear speaker
Factory 1980 928 rear speaker
Factory 1980 928 rear speaker back
I recently replaced the factory rear speakers in a ROW 1980 928. I have attached pictures of the factory units that were removed. I replaced them with a pair of Focal ICU100 that fit perfect in the area without any modifications. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Thanks so much for this info!
I’d already gone with In-Phase SXT6435 three-way 6x4 units for the front speakers and now I have this info have found In-Phase XTC10.2 two-way speakers for the rear, which will are 4 inch. The SXT6435 have inverted magnets, so no issues with depth for the front at 34mm and the XTC10.2 for the rear are just 39mm.
Did you need to remove the rear quarter panels entirely to access the rear speakers? I’ve found this guide for a later model but must be the same process?

Also thinking about adding an In-Phase underseat subwoofer but not sure how it will connect to a Blaupunkt QTS as this doesn’t have a subwoofer output.
