Battery
I took my battery out to have it recharged. This happened becuase I ran it down trying to start the beast. It turned over but didn't start. I put the freshly charged battery back in. Now when I turn the key the starter does not engage. Is there some sort of reset?

What condition is your battery ground cable and the main ground point?

Three points to be clear on:
1. Fresh and healthy batteries are critical.
2. Clean contacts everywhere are important with a 928.
3. Ground straps can corrode from the inside rendering them incapable of proper grounding.

There are a lot of missing pieces to this puzzle:
As others have mentioned, what is voltage?
Measure voltage before and while trying to start.
Begin measuring at battery from post to post.
Then battery positive post to chassis.
Next measure from under hood jump post to engine block.
Ultimately, starter terminals to engine block.
Does anything work? Interior lights, dash lights, head lights, horn etc.? Is there any clicking, starter or relays, when you try to start?
If nothing works the problem ls likely at the battery connections including ground strap to chassis and ground strap itself.
If things work but nothing clicks or happens when turning the key, the problem could be with the switch or CE panel.
If there is clicking, it's likely just low voltage and the above measurements should help pinpoint the problem.
