Default Pressure testing intake

Greetings all,

Quick question....I am doing some intake leak testing using Dwayne's test adapter (Thanks Dwayne). I hear a hiss from somewhere in the center of the manifold/engine. Hard to pinpoint and it does leak down to 0 very quickly. Before it runs down to 0, I also noticed that when removing the dipstick or oil fill cap, pressure releases. My question is...is this normal? Will there be pressure in the crankcase from pressurizing the intake? Thanks much!

An ultrasonic leak detector will help you pinpoint the location for the source of the hissing sound

if your pressurizing the intake note that the MAF boot has a line that goes directly to the crankcase,
this will let the pressure leak out quickly with the dipstick pulled out or the oil fill cap loosened.

Also the brake booster should be removed from your test as you will be pressurizing it instead of applying vacuum.
