I'd like to translate the book, but I'd rather do it for printing. This way you won't have to listen to a whole tape of me rambling everytime you want to know something... But it'll only happen, if someone pays me well for it. No more charity work of this kind. Few people realize how much time it takes.

That's about all I can offer. I thought some other folks here might also throw some goodies in on top of my bottle of wine. I am married, so I am not in a position to make you an offer like the one you have from the other board :^).
By the way, I think that it is great that you make these offers available to the 928 community. Thanks. By the way, I still have my 928S4 keychain. It sets off the security screeners at the airport for a hand inspection every single time I go through. They get a kick out of it after they see what it is.

All books scheduled for Mid-July delivery are sold. WOW!!!
Orders I receive from now on will have to be filled from the next shipment, which I expect in Mid-August. I might try to speed that one up a bit, if a significant number of additional orders comes in.
Thanks everbody for responding so quickly!

Finally, after what seemed like an endless wait, I have received part of the 928 books. Interestingly, the first order, which was supposedly shipped at the end of June, still has not arrived. The two boxes of the second shipment arrived days apart... I'm still trying to figure out where the first order is, but it is summer vacation time in Germany, and the right guys are out of reach. The people I have talked to haven't a clue. Well, Germans might have good engineering and manufacturing, but when it comes to customer service they could certainly learn a lesson or two from Americans!
The good news is that I now have enough books to fill most or your orders. I will start shipping the books shortly, and hope you will receive yours without further delay.
I apologize for the long wait!
PS: In case you are wondering why the links to my website and ebay auctions are gone: The moderator of the General Porsche discussion board asked me to remove them, since I am not a site sponsor. This is a side business, and sponsorships start at about 15% of my average total monthly sales, which I'm sure you understand is not feasable. I hope you will continue to bid on my auctions, or visit my online store.

Well,
One story from the book I found kinda funny so here it goes though my German and English skills are not good enough to translate literally, certainly not Austen's use of german, the guy must have been to school at a Jesuit convinct, very classic:
Austen tells about the time they were the testing the Transaxlesystem and undercarriage ?(Bodengruppe) in an Audi 100 Coupé. Because the Audi was too narrow they cut it in half and widened it by 110 mm. Austen then goes on to tell that the pride of the Weissach coachbuilders was too great that they would allow anyone to notice this, so they adjusted the grill, the front and rear windows and the back of the car so it wouldn't be noticeable to a non-professional. Then it goes on about the the Porsche testdriver that took this car into the Stuttgart traffic to test "Stop and Go" driving in the busy city traffic. As he parked his car in front of a baker to buy a breadroll, another Audi Coupé driver happened to park behind him and with some astonishment noticed how the car in front of him looked quite a bit more imposing. So he got out and started to measure the distance between the rearlights. At this time the Porsche testdriver came back and saw this guy measuring the two cars. After being approached about it the Porsche driver asked the Audi owner what year his car was. 1974, the man answered. "Ah well", the testdriver said in Schwäbisch (dialect), "that figures, that was the year of the energycrisis, Audi built significantly smaller cars that year". And got in and drove off, leaving a baffled man.
Quite a few gems in the book, also about the looks of the car.

There are different versions of that story - one says the Porsche Engineer said the man's Audi must be one from a series that was accidentially painted with shrinking paint...

Nicole,
you could acquire english translation/distribution rights and have a US reprographic company produce them for the domestic market... just a thought

Thanks
I have plenty more of the se books coming - in fact, they should already be here, but the first shipment got lost somewhere in Nirwana where the postal employees are now educating themselves about the 928 and the other Porsche models that were covered in that order of books.
I will list the books in my store at www.hookedoncars.com as soon as they arrive. Alternatively you can pre-order by emailing me at Email me at hookedoncars@mossinger.com. However, i can no longer offer the special $48 deal. The book will be $49 plus shipping, which is still a good offer.
I'm glad everybody enjoys the book. I might have another great read coming in the near future. Stay tuned!
