I've collected just about EVERY diecast of the 928 and have paid up to $60 for rare minichamp 928's. The Herpa are also very nice to collect. I just found a brown 91S4 and paid 44 with shipping.

The Motormax models are decent. The paint finish is really good. What makes them look wrong is the rear wing isn't shaped right, and the wheels don't do it justice. The gaps between the doors could be better as well....but for $6, it's tough to beat.

The most accurate & proportionately detailed model that I've seen is the plastic Fujimi GT. It's very accurate down to the buttons on the dash. No opening hood/doors; or steering wheels however.

Chuck,
Any guesses on the cost of a 1/18 928 if one comes to fruition? If there was one available as nice as the mass-produced Maisto's, I'd have to have it. I don't know what the spending limit would be, but it would be up there.

Yes I've installed S4 wheels on one of mine also.

OK, since there's already one plastic model on this diecast thread.... here's my Herpa 1:87 '78, it even has (nearly) the correct wheels. Hmmm... interesting juxtaposition of numbers... Anyway, if I can just find a good chrome model paint for the wheels it'll be perfect.

Posting a photo is much easier than I thought. Here's another try.

hello all...

I've been looking for a 1/18 scale diecast 928 for many years now. My friend at a local hobby store has a book which lists EVERY model (metal & plastic) ever made....and no 928's in 18th scale.

Over the years, I've picked up many 1/19th - 1/20th scale 928's in plastic. These are just a hair smaller than the Bburagos and Solidos. If you were to use the 1/18 wheels on these cars, it would look like you were running on a set of 22s...sorry, bling bling isn't what I had in mind for my shark.

So far, the jewel of my collection is a 1/8 plastic 928. That's right 1/8th. This thing is almost 2 feet long. It's made by a company called Rico. I picked it up from eBay last year. It's an RC (with cord) and it has some of the coolest functions including:

working turn signals
horn
reving sounds when standing still
hazzards when hood is open
alarm when rear hatch is open
and get this, headlights that pop up and light

This thing's great, but I'd still love to get a diecast in 1/18 scale.

Johan und Heinrich,
I see the Motormax has Venturi delete option
on their scale model. Very trick.

Ernest (NYC)
Wouldn't mind getting a 928 shell for those mini
ZipZap scale micro radio control cars.

Got mine with 2 speed, and ridiculous (plaid) speed motor.

Roger, I want to see that 1/8 928 - can you post a picture? As you can see from my new location I left the cold north last year, so how is your 928 going - all done working on it?

My favorite model 928 is the one below:
