Default Where is the "proper" place to stow the jack?

Hi,

Just got a replacement jack today (Thanks Drewster) and I'm wondering where it's supposed to go. In with the spare, obviously, but is there a niche or a missing tie-down or some other contrivance to keep the jack from rattling around?

Thanks

Thaddeus

I have mine behind the tool cover, in its felt pouch, with the narrower part shoved in towards the middle of the car.

This was an interesting discussion a few years ago. I have mine the same place as Nicole, however, look at the manual and it shows a picture of it with the spare tire. Oh, I upgraded my felt bag to a leather one

Hey, great idea! I can sell my cloth jack bag, and make a leather one out of left overs from the seat recovering!
jp 83 Euro S AT 48k, full leather...except the jack bag.

I keep the jack between the Swiss and the Havarti. Sometimes I have to move the Cheddar to get to it, but that's life.

Hokey smokes! Not only do you carry a spare, but you have a jack AND a spiffy little bag to carry it in...

Talk about elitist...

Mine is also behind the tool cover, no bag though - it is wedged in behind some chunks of foam - to keep it quiet I assume? I have had the car for 3 years (with the same battery!) and I found the jack for the first time last month when I was cleaning up the contacts on the hatch lock - so the interior lights would work again when I open the hatch

The link below is a bunch of interior pictures. Look at the eighth picture down, it is a picture of where the jack in its bag belongs (at least on later models).

Interior pics

I would have posted just the pic but, for some reason everything seems to be converting to bmp format when I try to save it on my hard drive and you cannot post bmp on this forum.

You know, I've heard ppl say it comes in the spare wheel well also ... but mine have always been in the spot Chuck's pics show. '87 x2 and '85 x2. Also, my lug wrenches have been between the spare wheel and the left rear seatback, in the wheel well, against the spare.

The way the jack fits back there, I can't imagine that it didn't come from the factory -- not like Porsche to compress everything and leave a jack-sized hole back there.

in additon to what chucks picture shows, there should be a rubber strap that holds the jack in place. didn't know this until i got my most recent car which still has it there.

Well, I just went out to stow the jack in its proper place and guess what I found in that spot? A jack. In a felt bag.

A strap to hold the jack in place??? I guess I will have to call Jim B. and order me one. My 94 GTS has no strap.
