While I'm in this thread...
I'm going to dive back into my '91's system in a few weeks. I'm going to toss the Music Keg and head unit and install an HU that has a direct iPod connection. I just installed the Alpine XDA-X001 in an '87 and I wasn't impressed. I didn't like the UI and operation of the UI is slow. I'm probably going to go with another Kenwood. Probably the eXcelon KDC-X792. The slippery slope will turn on whether or not I want to use the Keg's space for amps or a subwoofer. I'm happy with the sound of the MBQs driven from the HU, but I'd be ecstatic with more power and more bass.

Dave,
I have the newer gen alpine IDA-x100. It looks a hell of allot better and allows you to use a USB connection which is superior to the KCI-422 cable that could also be used. The USB allows you to see album artwork as well on the very nice 2.2" display. Also the color being black is a much better fit for the car then the 001's silver face and blue buttons. Also the jog wheel is a hell of allot better. I had only used the x100's but then i saw 001's at bestbuy on closeout and they felt really cheap by comparison.
The alpine products also allow you to later tune the system with the Imprint stuff and alpine is also releasing a "power pack" that increases teh RMS wattage from 18 to 45. All those things combined made the Alpine the must have head unit for ME. your mileage may vary, but i had to say the second gen unit is a much better product.

From Alpine's web site it looks like the 001 is the higher-end unit. At least it is more expensive than the 100. Oh well. No sweat of my back. If you're good with the 100 then that's what matters.
I'm leaning heavily toward the Kenwood 792. From looking at the manual it should be a plug-and-play replacement for the Kenwood that's in my '91 now. Can't beat that with a stick install-wise. No wiring required at all, just unplug my old harness adaptor and plug it into the new one. I'm pretty happy with Kenwood at the moment and the warranty is two years unlike the one year on the Alpine.

Look at the online prices. The X-100 replaces the X-001 I also noticed the MSRP of both but the street prices are different.
The 100 in my opinion looks a hell of allot better and the click wheel which you use to control 90% of the functioning is much nicer then the 001 which it really only clicks back and forth. The 100's wheel moves very differently and being that ive seen both, i think there is no comparison.
Whatever floats your boat

Without further ado:
http://cableorganizer.com/wire-management/
Lots of different kinds, including fireproof, abrasion-proof, chemical resistant, etc. And all web-orderable.
