Need to know how to remove the 90 degree vent line from the top of the valve cover?

If you are referring to the actual metal fitting... you have to remove the cam cover. It's secured from the underside of the cover.

Why do you need to remove it?

MunyGuy:

from the service manual it looks like it pulls off, but carefully. There is an o-ring beneath the flange to seal the unit to the cam cover. I will try to email a .pdf file to you so you can see a picture.

The PET program does show a lock ring on the underside of the cam cover. Looks like you need to remove the cam cover to get this fitting off. Like Dave said, why??

The breather fitting is threaded. There's a large thin nut that secures it to the underside of the cover

Does your camera have a "macro" setting?

Well, he found the "WTF is that" setting...

munyguy, try using much brighter light or flash, and/or stabilize the camera somehow... lots of camera shake evident in that pic and all of the above will reduce it.

You definitely have to pull the cam cover as the lock nut is held tight by a ring with metal tabs. You need to bend a tab out to be able to turn the nut.

Oh yeah. I remember that now. And what a PITA it was to deal with that tab ring at the top of the oil separator.

I used some long heavy duty needle nose pliers to turn the lock ring. Hey - Dave C. or anyone: How do you capture and save drawings from PET??

1) Alt-Printscreen
2) Paste into Paint
3) Select-by-rectangle a less-than 1024x1024 section
4) copy and paste into a new Paint window
5) save to JPG

Steve:

I printed the PET page(s) to a PDF print driver instead of the printer. Using Options, I can specify the PDF print driver to prompt me for a file name and directory to save the file to. Then it's just a metter of uploading the file or emailing it.
