Default SITM BRP Video

The quality is not the best. If you don't like Little Feat, turn the sound off because Kempf and I were jaming out when the video was shot. It's a fairly big file for all you dial up people. But here it is. Tell me if it works, because I can't view it at work.

Sorry, like I said, it's big (almost 16 megs). I'll make a smaller clip tonight and post it.

JE,
Thanks! I'm in the middle of downloading the clip...only 5% more to go
Can't wait to see it...bad singing and all...Little Feat is just fine by me...fitting music for the setting.

UPDATE - after an overnight attempt to download the clip....it CRASHED and burned - ...bummer

- Trying again now

Has Jimme (from D.C. area?) posted his clip of the drive out to the BRP yet? I really want to see that one because he got every car and driver/passenger as we were leaving the park.
Cheers,
Tim

Thanks. It's a bit bumpy, but it does give you a feel for what a nice drive it is on the BRP.

As for Jay singing.....another reason to make another and smaller clip. I have about 5 or 6 songs worth and we were playing the "Waiting for Columbus" CD the whole time.

I haven't talked to Jimmie since Saturday. Not sure if he has a digital camcorder either. He always helps out at the Frenzy so I know I can speak to him about it then. I forget his last name, but he will contact the Frenzy committee.

He didn't get my car because we were just getting back to the park when the caravan lauched so we were able to get near the front.

And a bonus track of Johnny Bilqvist at the N-Ring.....this is the infamous Johnny pulls a surprise corner cut and JE almost messes his shorts.

Since video cameras are banned on the ring, I'm lucky I even got that. It's quite an effort to keep the camera on what you want without a camera mount when someone is flogging the ring. There is one section in there where you can hear the effect of the G-Forces on Johnny while he is trying to talk and take a hard corner at the same time.

I didn't realize you were trying to keep the camera out of sight. It makes sense now.

Actually it wasn't an effort to kep the cameras out of sight, it was more the effort of trying to keep my hands raised to that level after 10 miles of hard G's that Johnny was pulling while flogging the ring. I think I had a higher angle at the beginning of the filimg, I was just specifically asked to provide the rear portion of that particular run.

Default Video Technique

OK, all you mobile videographers out there--

What's the best way to mount the camera in the car? In this video, it's pretty obvious that it's being shot handheld. Great job keeping it pretty well lined up with the pitches the car is doing.

Is there a home-brew version of a steady-cam? Has anybody experimented with a foam-damped mounting or box that might ease some of the car movements that spoil may hard-mount video efforts? I'd love to shoot some on-the-road footage of our SoCal driving events, but would like something north of the rigid mountings. And he handheld option doesn't existy for me-- Karen gets a little upset (in more ways than one) right about the time the driving gets spirited, and would get sick in a hurry if she tried to work the camera at the same time.
