Default I saw that PorKen posted about his s wing

And figured that while everyone was on that topic that I might ask where I could Purchase a rear wing for my 83 (all three parts) either new or used in great condition. I still need a front spoiler as well. I checked the big three and found a front but no uck on the wing.
Thanks
Jeff

Oh yeh, the reason I need the wing is because when I took mine off to get ready for paint, all the mounts were rotted and twisted out of the rubber (sucked)...
And PorKen most aluminum can be bent to 90 degrees in a break All of the cheaper stuff like 6011 grade is pretty pliable. I have bent 1/4" 6011 to a 90 and turned out great. Its the stuff like 7075 that is leaning more toward a titanium alloy that starts to crack but even that with a good break may be doable. Even though I saw you scrapped the 90 degree hypothesis hahaha.. just fyi.

Restore your current wing. Use leatherique's (www.leatherique.com) "Rubber Black" to bring it back to looking like new. Use a terry cloth towel and pat it on to get a slightly textured surface like the original finish. You may need to apply many coats depending on how worn it is and how pourous the surface is. But it will look very nice and like new when done.

Drill out and JB Weld in some new fasteners.

I WILL do that if I have to but I mean everyone ripped out EVERYONE. haha... the car had a lot of leaves on it for a few years I guess and I wanted to get to the glass to stop the rust (had to do it) and rip rip rip.
I have learned a ton from everyone on here and have developed a nice little cache of links for stuff but I sure cant find this wing.
I checked:
928 intl
928 spec.
devek
pelican
patedwards
huntley
9xauto. and nothjing so far..............unless I'm screwin it up! haha
I took some pics of the shark this weekend while were doing the body, its a real wreck (looks great to be getting somewhere) I'll put them up if anyone wants to see some (at its worst) pics tomorrow.

Give it time, I'm sure 928 Intl will dismantle a 928S sometime in the near future. One has to become available then you would think. I guess those suckers cost a boatload new.

Did you try drilling out the old fastener bases and JB Weld or Epoxy in new fasteners?

No but I didnt want to have the thing come off in my hands in front of everyone after I get it all together hahhahaha since all of them wrenched off. I could just see going to shut the lid or something and having to throw it in the back and drive away hahahahaha that would be after me calming down and climbing up a tree to get it back hahahaha

Use JB Weld and the spoiler will have to disintergrate around it first for that to happen. They use that stuff to fix engine blocks at sea.

Alright I'll give it a closer look and give it a go. I was also worried about all of the new mounts aligning up correctly. I'll have to give it a shot. Thanks man

I suggest:

Make a template of the holes in the hatch then lay it over the spoiler (I suggest you find some kind of tape with a backing strip). Drill out the holes (@ 3/8" dia. and 1/4" deep) through the template. Find some long thin fasteners comperable to the ones that broke off. When you JB weld the fasteners in, lay the spoiler backside up and level. Make some small wooden blocks with an arch that will bridge the holes you drilled that will be filled with JB Weld. At the apex of the arch drill a hole for the fastener to fit through perpendicular to the apex of the arch, This will allow the fasteners to dry in place centered and verticle. Allow the JB weld to cure for about 12 hours before you install the spoiler.

Jeff McVicar,

Thanks for the aluminum info, if I don't use it for my spoiler, I'm sure I'll use it somewhere else.

BTW: It's a spoiler, not a wing.

I have extensive experience with the 83 MY having owned 3 of them. Still have the black one which I removed the spoiler on before it's paint job. Didn't have the same problems, but removing the spoiler made me think about what to do in case something did happen. I used the Leartherique "Rubber Black" to restore the finish. Good results IIDSSMS. See the picture for a hint of the results.

Send me a PM and we can get together with Greg Nichols or some of the other locals sometime in the future for a "Maintenance day".

I'm afraid of removing my hatch spoiler because of the Nylock nuts pulling the studs out.

Would it help to heat the Nylock nuts before trying to turn them?

I'll give it a look. But I'd really like to throw that one in the trash since it was already a bad source of stress hahahahhaa getting it off. But if thats what I have to do if I cant find one after the paint shop I'm on it. Yours looks great. That stuff works that good huh? Is it easy to put on?
