928 fuel pump mystery wires

Hi all, working on my 82 928. Replacing a leaking gas tank. A project that was so much fun...spinning tank filter screen...good times.

I noticed that there were 2 extra wires in the harness that goes to fuel pump. They are cut and tucked back and wrapped with electrical tape. When I went to install new tank I decided to clean everything up and unwrapped the wires. Thinking someone spliced something in or ran something along side the harness.

Instead I found those 2 wires go into the harness..to the fuel pump? I dont really see them on a wiring diagram and from reading lots of posts etc, I cant figure out what they would go to or why they would have been cut. See Picture. Any help would be appreciated
