Thank you everyone. I had a great time. Well, except for the drive home. Found a big bolt with my rear tire. Factory spare (1990 vintage), inflated perfectly and got me to a tire shop for two new rear tires, on a sunday, in stock in Urbana, IL.

34 year old spare gave no problems over 25 miles at 50

Got home and the tires are fine.

Hi, you did a great job helping with that brake line fix (floor jack too).!
That would be me, looking for a set in 16" for my '78.
PM me for my contact info, thanks for remembering!

Thanks to the entire OH-IO Budkeye Landshark crew for a great event. Jill and I made it home save and sound. A couple of pics from the Horsepower Farm and a bonus meme!

Hi everyone. I am the one who has the most thanks to give. My first Columbus event, and it was epic. The organization was precise, the comraderie overflowing, and the weather was perfect.
I had the brake line failure. Stewart followed me back to the parking lot, then drove me in his beautiful S4 over to the HorsePower Barn. The cars were absolutely amazing. The 914-6 prototype called “The Mule” along with so many other breathtaking cars.
Back in the parking lot, a plan was being hatched to repair the brake line and get me back on the road. I was in good hands(Hans??) The next morning a Napa run was done, in Luc’s Maserati, with Shawn and Bertrand, and we realized that the rear seat is nicer than the 928 rear seat. Some hard line was bought, along with tools and couplers, and we drove back to the parking lot in luxury.
Back in the parking lot, we sought shelter under a tree, and coined ourselves the real Shade Tree Mechanic’s. Shawn had a hydraulic jack in his car that he quickly offered to get, Doug of Columbus brought us a pressure bleeder and flare wrenches, and we set about repairing the line. Everyone had an opinion how to repair it, and Bertrand, Luc and Shawn just dove in to do it.
The repair went well, the brakes were bled, then tested in the parking lot with 30 onlookers. The shade tree was popular, and the party was started. My pedal came back properly, but just a tad soft, but good enough to get me to Tennessee, my next destination, where I have a mechanic buddy, who helped me bleed the brakes again, and the pedal is now hard, and the ABS works properly.
So many people to thank for all the input and ideas, and the guys who got dirty for me, Shawn, Bertrand, Luc. Eric said if things don’t work, we could trailer my car to a hydraulic shop, with Mick’s truck(trailer) and he would loan me his cabin for the time needed. Thanks Eric, you are a special guy, along with all the organizers of this special event. For everyone who chipped in and helped out, sincere thanks from the bottom of my heart, and a big shout out to Ed and Ann, who finished off my night with some Famous Grouse, listening to some great rock and roll music.
Thanks to Super Dave, Wayne,Stewart, Ed, Jeff, Adam,Shawn for all the input and to finding a solution in the parking lot
Cheers Don
P.S. The surprise of the night. Winning the trophy no one wants to win. The car most likely not to start. They changed the word to”stop”. It was the cherry on the sundae.

Ed kept saying, "I'd get that repaired properly as soon as possible." I told him that I'd leave it that way until the car went to the crusher, and he said, "Well, that's you, Shawn. You also carry a floor jack and tools everywhere you go!"

Ed changed his mind about a proper repair when he realized that the path of that pipe means it's most likely an engine-out fix!

Sharks,

Im just now recovering in Nashville TN! Well, enough to write anyway! On Monday I slept on a bench at a rest area for two hours en route to TN. Literally woke myself up snoring because I left all the energy I had at the event back in Columbus. It was a lot of work and is a labor of love. THE 928 Buckeye Landsharks wouldn’t have it any other way and we were thrilled with the turn out - especially our Canadian friends who drove over 3200 kilometers total.

As such we will take this opportunity to thank all of the attendees for your energy, excitement, your SHARKS and willingness to put up with us for yet another three day event! Our 928 community is the best and you all are THE reason this event is so successful.

We would like to give special thanks to our sponsor- the 928 Owners Club. Without their financial support Sharks Discover Columbus II would not happen! Sign up or renew your membership so we ALL can continue to attend these events and have a great time sharing our cars with the world.

Our friends at 928sRus and 928 International donated all the door prizes including gift certificates, cool T-shirts, and a slew of parts to raffle off. I have to apologize to Jeanie Roberts for absolutely dropping the ball in this regard as 928 Specialists was also wanting to donate to the cause. I’ll make it up to you Cuzz - I promise!! We cannot effectively express our gratitude to these outstanding businesses that do everything they can to help our community keep these cars on the road.

In closing, we would just like to say THANK YOU once again to all who took the time & paid the expense to attend our little car show! We hope to see you all once again at…

Sharks Discover Columbus III in July 2025 !!!

Default THE BUS

I finally managed to dig the cobwebs out of my ears and post up the party pics of you hooligans on the bus.

**disclaimer** - I was already unsteady on my feet when Joel asked me to shoot this. Your mileage may vary as I was completely hammered.

See video here:

Brad is going to mash it up into an edited video... that said, the recording didn't come out super great. Should have shot it with an iphone, as it has better vid capture than the SLR camera I had... I'll throw it up into Youtube in leiu of Brad's super edit asap!
