Angry This sucks!

Had to happen sometime!

My shark is near perfect. I worked hard last winter and replaced the aluminum ball joints, installed adjustable front spring units (thanks, 928 International!) put in the new Blau stereo, set uo with four speakers, fitted a front spoiler, new Khumos, fitted the new group-buy GT wing, and on and on.

I had her on the road less than three weeks and then had a seizure at work. Now I'm not allowed to drive for THREE MONTHS! Happens every time! I never have seizures while driving, I get plenty of warning before I pass out. I've found out that I can be completely reliable after two weeks, but nobody here in Colorado seems to get that.

Is there anyone else out there with a seizure disorder who knows how to get around this?

That's such a shame. I really feel for you.

I have been one of the healthiest people on the planet. But the last four years I seem to have been getting what I think are migraines or something. Lately they have gone away. I would suggest going crazy with Google, and finding all kinds of alternative ideas for hopefully solving the problem. I know, you probably already have done everything you can.
It seems to me that diet is almost everything. I don't know, but I can only wish you the best.
Sorry I don't have any help on what you are looking for. We rely on our cars so much that without them it's a killer.

what type of seizure are you talking about? sounds sort of similar to what my dad started having a few years back, his were occular .. I would suggest you see a neurologist, ... , if you know what causes your seizures check out http://www.fda.gov/ and run a search for your condition and see what meds are approved and which are in clinical trials
best of luck and if you need help looking for an answer let me know

That really sucks, Simon. I'm sorry to hear that. My chiropractor says he can treat seizures. He's pretty over the top, you might have to dig a bit to find one as good in your area. Just a thought.

Best of luck to you!

Thanks, guys.

The seizures are pretty mild. I get the sensation of a very bad smell a few minutes before I pass out. I don't thrash around or anything and wake up confused, but after a couple of minutes feel fine. My neurologist and I can trace the problem to a head injury I received while I was in the service. Other than that my neuropathy is normal.

I haven't had a seizure in years and have been off medication for over five years. I thought I was done with this.

It just pisses me off to see my Shark sitting in the garage shining like a new dime, just waiting to be driven.

Oh well, make lemonade. Maybe I'll tear out the transmission and replace the synchros. Anybody out there replace the synchros on an early 5speed?

Simon... a few years ago I had seizures and a craniotomy.

My neurosurgeon and neurologist had me on Dilantin, which
I managed over time(5 years) to get reduced and finally
eliminated. It held the seizures in check. I never was
taken off the road, but was liable, if neuro's decreed
I was "unsafe"; potential 6 mo "on the bench", if so.

Work with your neuro's, encourage them to keep you
mobile(& alive, of course). May you have only good
EEGs. Mine seemed to enjoy keeping me & the
Porsches active(well, the P-cars, anyway).

Didn't know CO did that to people; 3 mo, eh? Well, get
the maintenance done, add some goodies to the
interior, wash-wax-vacuum to a fair thee well. Your
'shark' will run well and look good when you're
back on the road.

G'luck.
