Rubber gasket at back of thermostat housing: friction fit or needs adhesive?

On your car the lower hose from radiator goes up to the 90 degree elbow, then there is an o-ring (part number 999 701 632 40), then the t-stat, then the water bridge itself (no o-ring between the t-stat the water bridge). The t-state fits inside of the water bridge; watch carefully as you take it apart, and re-assemble in reverse (I take lots of photos on these jobs too).
