new short shifter & 930 steering wheel
#16
Not all 930 steering wheels are created equally.
I installed one on my 1986 a few years ago that I purchased from AJUSA. It has a nice colored Porsche crest in the center and looks identical to the photo in Gretch's post. Really like the wheel, however, if you closely compare Gretch's photo to Ferris B's you can see that the center of the wheel is connected to the outside rim differently on each wheel. On Ferris B's wheel, the left (9 o'clock) and right (3 o'clock) spokes are seamlessly connected to the outer rim. On the AJUSA wheel, there is a pronounced seam at these two locations.
My wheel is aging nicely, but in my opinion these highly visible seams take away from the wheels overall fit and finish.
Just my 2 cents.

Very nice Mark! I keep debating going with a wheel like this or modifying a new Boxter or 993 air bag (air bag guts removed).
Might just be an optical illusion, but your wheel looks thicker and nicer than some I've seen pictured elsewhere. Curious, how many different sources/versions of this 930 wheel are there? I know AJ USA sells 'em, the Big Three has 'em (but no pics?) and there is also a fellow on eBay selling "real" 930 wheels and a knock off version. Where is the best place to buy these and how much $$$ are we talking?
The short shifter is on my to-do list also... and GTS mirrors and roof top antenna and window tint and high flow exhaust and SC kit and stroker...
Ah hell, I think I need therapy!

This one came from 928 Spec (if I recall correctly). Fst951 can confirm, since he installed it. It cost $400+ freight. There was about a four week wait as there were none in the US.
Bill Ball, your wheel is also really nice. That would have been a good second choice. If Dave "MOMO" Lomas had known of this one and had shown it to me, I might have opted for it instead.
Thanks for all the comments. Here's a pic of the wheel @ short shifter.
