Default tracking down my old shark

Haven't been on here in a long while, as i let my 88 S4 go years ago now. But happily I'm at a point where I'd like to try and find her again.
As i recall there was some website or service that showed current owner. or maybe a 928 registry? I have the VIN still but online vin check sites aren't showing anything.

Thanks for the help,

DR

i think i'm still on norcal928. I used to bring it to sharks in the park back in the day.

I've heard the last buyer is in LA. i could post the VIN but not sure how appropriate that is here.

well, that's not true. you can see the CA plates in my profile pic. And those were the second plates i had. it was originally registered in CA back in 1998..then re-titled in texas with my dad, then back in CA around 2005.

And i sold it to a friend in CA, who sold it to a guy in LA probably 5yrs ago. who knows what happened after that.

thanks for looking though, very curious.

That VIN doesn't come up as ever being in CA..

Weird...that's a very reliable site as well.

Third character is wrong - WPOJB0929JS861430 should be WP0JB0929JS861430.

Cool site - the corrected VIN checks out: Last passed California inspection in 2019.

Sorry to hear it turned out this way.

However, now your options have grown significantly! (Dare I say it, even beyond the 928 if you are so inclined).

Default I’m new owner

I am probably the new owner. I bought the car at an auction in 2020 and imported it to Poland. It had a broken alternator and a few other things. Write to me in a private message, I would be happy to learn something about the car
