Default Oil (again, sorry about that...)

Hi,
I know there are thousands of discussions about oil...
However my question is very simple.
It's very dificult to find good quality oil in my country, Portugal, in 20W50 or 15W50
I've used for a few years Mobil 1 15W50 when it was available in Europe, not anymore.
Then I switched to Fuchs Titan Race Pro R 15W50.
I was very happy with the Fuchs but now is about to be no longer available here also.
My question is, although much more expensive can I switch to the Porsche Classic oil for the transaxle models in 10W50??
I believe that will be always available, however is there a significant difference (for worse) in switching from a 15W50 to a 10W50?

Sorry about another oil thread but I really need somo info on this.

TIA

Regards

Hi,

What stops you buying Valvoline VR1 20W-50 on eBay, will they not post to Portugal? Or pop across the border and pick up 2 years worth from Spain?
Is there some restriction.

Why not just buy a bunch of what you've been using and stock up? Figure out how many miles or oil changes you're doing per year, multiply that by 8 or 9 quarts and multiply that by 3 or 4 or 5 years. With my fleet I've bought Driven oil (preferred brand) by the pallet when they put it on sale - sadly that's about 1 years worth.

Most 20w-50 oil will have the amount of zinc in it that we need so long as it is a good oil.

Total Quartz is widely available in Europe and the 3000 version is made for older engines like ours (at least according to them).

Could be something you can look into.
