Default Alternate Battery Chemistry FYI

FYI that may or may not be useful. During the 928 Rendezvous, Kevin mentioned difficulty in getting a battery for I think the 86 due to it not have a insulator pad for the battery cavity cover. This made me think of AGM-lithium battery review article I'd read about for motorcycles. I do not know if they make a similar battery for cars, and while you can get pretty high CCA it is still below what you'd expect for standard 928. Around 650 CCA from a 15 lbs motorcycle sized battery: https://www.motobatt.us/MHTX30_4.

I tracked down the article in BMW MOA 202307 issue. They use lithium iron cells which are more stable than what is used for laptops for instance. The hybrid battery ends up with weight between AGM and lithium. Might be worth looking into for those who can not find a battery that fits and don't live in a cold area where more CCA would be needed.

AntiGravity is the go to for LIIon automotive batteries but they cost 2x-3x what an AGM does and I get 8-12 years out of my AGMs by putting my cars on Battery Tenders whenever they're parked so I can't justify the cost difference for myself.

The AG batteries do have some cool features like remote charge monitoring, automatic shut down at a percentage of charge level, etc. Had my daughter ended up at college.more than the 10 minutes away that she is at Clemson, I was going to put one into her Audi Q5 for those other benefits where she'd never be stranded from a dead battery if her car stayed parked for a few weeks.

They are lighter too, but I'm not really concerned about weight.
