Hello folks. While reading Slowrusty's episode in his post, "Failed Oil Cooler - Oil in Antifreeze Mess - Fixed Finally - Pictorial", I saw that he went to the OE fan setup.
I recently was power washing my condenser to remove some bugs etc and realized that the car I bought has a twin Derale setup. I am not having any over heating ocurrences but wanted to know how good were these OE fans. I think my setup per Derale was about 3000 scfm.
Anyone know what the stock fans are rated?
I would prefer to go stock, especially if they are better
I am not sure on how much air the stock fans will move (CFM), but one of the reasons they are efficient is the well-designed shroud...that makes a whole world of difference. You can have the most powerful fans rated at 10,000 CFM, but if the shroud is not designed to pull the air effectively through the radiator, its essentially a waste.
When I checked Porsche have discontinued these fans. The fact that Mark has a brand new one is very fortunate.
Thanks guys. Like I said, I am not having heating problems.
The Derale shroud covers the entire rad. But I didn't want to go stock (for looks) and start a problem.
Not sure why the PO (which of 3) decided to remove the orig
