I had the same problem. I called 928 Int'l and the next day the Fed Ex man showed up with a rebuilt control unit. I installed it this weekend and it's been great. All I have to do now is return my old brain to get my core deposit refunded to my credit card.

 

I have already tested the unit and found that it fails sporatically. I have a nother 928 S4 that I used the LH unit out of and my car runs fine with that unit. I basically swaped the unit and now the other car is having th esame problem. So I know the unit is failing. How much was the rebuilt unit from 928 int'l?

 

I got a second hand unit from a UK dismantler rather than having mine rebuilt by John Speake (I hadn't heard of him then) and now I have to look forward to my replacement failing eventually as well.

I shopped around and 928 Int'l had the best price on a rebuild. You can check their web site for details www.928intl.com
They charge a $200 core deposit to your credit card but they refund that when they get your old brain back.

P.S. You have the added advantage of not living in CA and having to pay CA sales tax.

 

You can get a rebuild for half that amount, with a 2 year warranty..........
