Creaks from behind-check hatch struts
Struts don't just go soft!
I've had an irritating creak from the tail end for months, whenever I cross a gutter, pothole etc.. Tried adjusting hatch rubbers, lock clearance, a bit of talc on the rubbers. The PO had regassed struts put in which worked fine but began to 'bind' on opening; the installer had put them in upside down so I corrected that. Finally the penny dropped that maybe the struts caused the creak, even though the hatch was closed. Took them out and Bingo! no noise! New, genuine struts in and quiet motoring.
Local specialist comments that there are often "odd" issues with reconditioned struts. These ones also were not ex-Porsche, as evidenced by their chromed rods (rather than black). Problem probably made worse by installing upside down.
Happy motoring
