I'm a recent owner of a 928 GT, reconditioned in beautiful shape, all done by Rob Edwards, who I have yet to be in contact with. Purchased it 6 months ago but had it stored by a friend. Got it here today and ready to drive it like it should be driven. Coolant shows low (lights came on and temp seemed to rise) - I have read that different coolants shouldn't be mixed, but don't know what was used prior (and also dont know what Oil was used). I purchased Peak Antifreeze/Coolant 50/50 European Blue. Does anyone recommend this brand and also, true that coolants shouldn't be mixed?
Not sure how to send private messages, so trying to figure that out on this forum as well.

The car left here in 2020 with a gallon of Porsche pink coolant and the rest distilled water. What color is the coolant in the reservoir in the back right of the engine compartment? If it's pink I would find some Xerex G40 (or the Porsche 000-043-305-15-M100, if you want to be fancy) to top it up. Next time you decide to change all the coolant I would try the Pentosin NF, that seems to be the favorite these days.
Feel free to PM me (or post here) if you have any questions about the car!

Oddly the reservoir was empty. But there was a pink hue on the cap inside so that makes sense.
mill figure out out to PM with more questions
recommendations on the Oil?

Brad Penn 20w-50 is what I use, if the oil is green that’s Brad Penn. Hopefully it has been changed though I understand the car has essentially been sitting.
On the coolant, fill the reservoir to just above the middle and then run the car up to temp. The gauge may go to 3/4 or so, the real question is what is the temp of the upper radiator hose using an IR gun.

The 928 was designed to run IAT coolant what you chaps in the States call Prestone. There was nothing technically wrong with the stuff providing the instructions were followed other than the environmental lobby that forced the introduction of longer life coolants .
The correct specification for the 928 cooling system using 2nd generation coolants is BASF Glysantin G48, it is coloured blue and is made under license by a number of outfits including Xerex G48 and Pentosin NF.
G40 is the coolant spec for later model Porsches starting MY96 as I recall . There are three versions of G40 and the last one is allegedly backwards compatible to our 928's. Personally I doubt there would be any problem using the stuff but then I had difficulty finding out exactly what the difference was. Given I still use Prestone it was all rather academic .Ironic as well given Prestone now offer 5 year 150k miles service life .
