Where the timing marks on the cam??

I see the notch behind the cam gear but not on the cam gear?

There should be a small cut in the rear edge of the gear
Note the cams will be close to TDC when both of the rotors tips are pointing to the left fender and the crank key way is at 4 30 while facing the engine
Note crank positioned at 3 o clock is 45 BTDC

Agreed. Your gear is not yet aligned. The groove is there, you just need to turn the engine and find it. You may be way out of time?

You are probably at TDC #6, not #1

Note the gears were updated in late 85, 00 to 01, with a front notch and nubs to indicate where the distributor rotor should point.

Three additional 10mm holes were added as well. One hole aligns with a boss on the 5-8 cam housing at TDC #1, possibly for easier installation of the belt at the factory?
