More Bambi versus '94 GTS, Headlight Alignment
I got the 94 GTS put back together last night. The only bambi damage (other than to bambi herself) was a broken passenger side headlight (black plastic adjustment pieces only) and a driver's side fog/driving light (cracked lense, borken adjuster).
The impact of bambi and both headlights appears to have knocked headlight arm attachment bolt out of whack. It's the 10mm one that attaches the arm to the inner fender area with the slot for the bolt to pivot with. Alignment of the headlight buckets has been difficult. I removed the passenger side bucket and arm to check for damage, bent stuff and found nothing. The steel pins are intact and surprisingly, those cast aluminum pieces didn't break and nothing seems bent.
Thanks to Jim at 928 International for the speedy shipment of needed replacements. Now I will have to replace the passenger side fog/driving light, since it's so pitted and doesn't look as nice as the new one.
The problem with the alignment is that the two headlights don't go down to the same level. The passenger side seems a bit lower (0.5 inch lower) than the driver's side. When raised, they don't seem really snug against the stops.
When I manually raise the headlights with the **** atop the motor, the drivers side starts to raise first, followed by the passenger side. I think an adjustment of the motor height is needed.
Any suggesting on alignment? I think I will drive it this week a couple of times, then tackle the adjustments again this weekend.

Hey, Bill -
A search of the archives for 'headlight adjustment' results in several matches. Here's one that may help:

The headlight are something like 8-way adjustable. Sounds to me like the problem is in the clamps on the shaft, not the headlight motor height, Pop the hood, they're on either side.

I believe there is a bolt stop that is inside each fender......you will have to take out the front fender liners in order to see/adjust it. Raise the headlights and you will have no trouble seeing the bolt which has a rubber tip on the end that meets the headlight housing as it goes down. The bolt also has a locking nut in order to keep it in spec.
The lights definitely need to hit the stops pretty hard, but not too hard......it's a fine line between stopping the "shakes" and damaging the motor or it's linkage. If the stops have not been moved in the past, then you will probably have to raise the headlight motor a pinch at a time until the shakes just stop.
As far as alignment goes.......I did this and it came out perfect.......

Good luck with it......
