are older ABS controllers partialy compatible
Ongoing investigations into cause of ABS and PDS warning messages:
As per other posts, I have checked/double/treble checked my sensors: I checked the pins on the connector that goes onto the controller, all 4 sensors have the same resistance, no connection to ground and all do respond if the wheel is turned. The relays (1 on CE board, 2 on ABS pump, 1 on PDS) are all good, and the relevant fuses are all good.
JDSPorsche popped around very helpfully yesterday and plugged in their diagnostic tool. Whilst there were no faults to report from the ECU, it was not able to connect to the PDS controller.
Whilst this might be for a multitude of other reasons on the car, if I take it at face value, I feel it is possible the ABS/PDS controller is at fault/dead.
I have the S4 with the PDS, so I believe the part I need is 928 618 120 01. Later cars had 928 618 120 AX which I presume would also be compatible.
However, I am not sure if I can source either of these.
I can borrow a second-hand 928 618 118 00 or a 928 618 119 05. From what I can tell, these were from earlier cars that did not have the PDS, so these would just be ABS controllers.
Here’s my question: would it be possible to plug in either of these to see what happens without causing any damage?
