Arrrrggggh!!!
1990 GT.. 310,000 mi. 500,000 km
Dead CPS. RIP.
Apart from the usual manifold removal annoyances, sensor was secured with a hex head bolt.
Could not get a socket onto it. (Even after I filed the rounded end flat).
Hmmmm. OK.
So, to get at the top of the sensor body I beat the living daylights out of the plastic with a cold chisel. , leaving only the top of the CPS visible.
Anticipating the CPS likely to be seized in, I had put few drops of Tri-flo penetrating lube around the connector, the idea being it would capilliary its way down around the sensor body.
Was then delayed for a few weeks before getting back to things a couple of days ago.
(Incidentally, I had decided to use the long screw-hook method mentioned here on Rennlist.)
A friend dropped in and thought he would try his vice-grips on it first, on the off chance .... on the off chance ....
Yessss.
It moved. Easily.
All the way out. :-)
Easy as.
Whooo %#*& Hooooo
I put down to the Tri-flo
I've seen it do some legendary things, but this, for me, has to be tops. Wow.
(Disclaimer: Neither I, nor any of my friends, family, 3rd cousins twice removed etc have any financial or other interests in any companies associated with Tri-flo. ).
So now have new sensor in place (socket head bolt with anti-seize) and manifold ready to be re-fitted. Maybe today.
Thankyou Tri-flo.
:-)

I've gone to some shooting competitions, and they give this stuff out to the competitors in the grab bags sometimes. It may work OK on a cps but no way would I use it on my guns. If I want to get a bolt out, I use PB Blaster.

Arrrr - you got me in one!
Yup.
Only good for CPS removal. ROFLMAO.
(Gee - wonder what it was I used to loosen all those nuts, bolts, stuck shafts ...)
Not use it on your guns? Wow.
U worried it will dissolve them?
PB Blaster to remove a bolt?
Why? Was it rusted in?
If so, then how so? Gun in the water?
Fell in chasing ducks, did we?
Talk about a case of determined, pharocial, ignorance.
Maybe your more enlightened countrymen will find the product more useful than yourself.
