So I purchased some LED bulbs for my Tail lights (Brake, back-up, Turn etc) and found them to be different brightness. Has anyone done this and did you have good success in having them look "correct"? If so can you tell me where purchased and the part numbers? Thank you.
I purchase mine from these guys located in MO, never had any issues.
I don't use load resistors, I do rewire the connector to the Lamp control using jumpers to bypass the unit, all reversible by unplugging the jumpers and re connecting the female plug to the lamp controller. Ed Sheer(sp) put together a complete LED part list years ago, and many of the LED's now have been improved, like now dim-able and not polarized.
Note our cars do not need CAN buss LED's.
Get the brightest for stop, and less bright for running, match the LED color to the Lens color, i.e. Amber for turn, Red for Stop and Running.
Rear turn signals are Osram BA15s amber LEDs replacing P21W (7556YE-02B). They have giant passive heat sinks. Reverse lamps are JDMastar 1156-5730-24w-M 960 lumens (no longer available).
Rear parking lamps were red LEDs 67-R12-G 18 lumens.
Rear brake lamps were red LED 1156-R3W-G 65 lumens.
The rear red LEDs are a near match for the replaced 5008 & 7506 bulbs in terms of brightness.
My current reverse lamps are JDM Astar 144-SMD 1200 Lm 6000K. I chose them because they are stupid bright.

Another vote for these reverse lights. Have them in my 928 and they were so awesome I put them in our new to us 944. Even with tinted windows you can see behind you.
Thank you everyone for your input thus far. Great info . There is a lot of knowledge and experience that goes into changing over to LED. Such as I did not know that putting in LED bulbs in some tail light locations would crack the lenses. Or how many lumens each location should be to get a good / consistent look.
