The difference between a "reproduction' Pirelli P7 and a new technology Pirelli P Zero Rosso is way beyond apples and oranges.
They might as well be made by two separate companies, who have never tested one or the other's product.
The P7's might be great for the people that polish and show their cars, but absolutely sucks for 928's which are actually driven.
I don't know what they did with the reproduction P7, but it is like driving around on Jello tires. It just seems like the sidewalls have absolutely no strength. "Mushy" would be an understatement!
I rebuilt and set-up an OB's suspension, with all new bushings, modified ride height Bilsteins, and a few other of my trick goodies. It had a modern 16" tire, when I did this. It handled extremely well.
Then the owner decided he wanted the more "original" look and switched over to the P7's.
It now wallows around, like the tires have 5 lbs. of air in them. It's absolutely the worst "freshened" 928 that I have ever experienced.
Ruined the car!
I've used a bunch of the Pirelli P Zero Rosso's.
That's an extremely nice tire.
Zero complaints....and I'm really picky about ride, noise, and handling.
