Hi all, I registered today after visiting these pages for a few months now. I live in the Netherlands, and since June I am the proud owner of a 5sp 928 S4, which I managed to buy after a tip from Dutch transaxle specialist The Loods Garage. Car has 200k kms on the clock, and the engine was fully rebuilt 5 years ago on the basis of another engine’s under block. Pulls like a train and does not consume any oil.
Hope to find good company and tips and tricks here. Have some HVAC issues that need sorting out and also consider to have the suspension fully overhauled as the car is still on its original red Boge’s and springs.
It would be a good idea to post the vin and have @Rob Edwards run the option codes on this car. Very unique and rare interior. It would be helpful to under stand the origin of that rear bumper. The car has had some love as well, noting the cast hole rotors, Cup II wheels, painted wing, and aftermarket exhaust. Please share as many details as you can, and feed pictures to the hungry sharks in the tank!

Damn that's nice. Black pinstripe sportseats, not even Don Corleone could dress this nice.. .. Please update on the finds regarding those outlets at the back..
Thanks all to the warm welcome and the nice compliments about the car. I feel really lucky to have found it. When I went for a test drive with the PO and asked him some details on work on the car, it immediately struck me how much detail he was able to provide and with which enthusiasm he was speaking about it. Fuel lines replaced, brake lines replaced, engine overhauled, light bulbs in the pod replaced with (hand-written) electrical scheme in the documentation, it immediately gave me a great feel.
A nice detail is also the custom made RVS exhaust with Magnaflow silencers which I know the PO had made in Italy. About the rear fender, I have not been able to track down what it is. In the file there is a picture of the car with the original S4 fender, which I must confess I like better.
I had the TB and waterpump changed immediately after purchase, and recently had the front bearing cup of the transmission replaced. I also installed a Continental head unit as I was ultimately not convinced of the Blaupunkt SQR Bremen alternative. Today the car will get a new clutch cylinder which is sweating slightly, and maybe (not hopefully) get confirmed that the HVAC issue is caused by a failing comb flap actuator.
Finally, the car is on 17” Cup 1 wheels now with new rubber. Please see below the option sticker, with final four digits of the VIN number being ‘1107’. Hope someone can help me find more details about the car.
The vacuum actuators in the HVAC are driven from the vacuum reservoir located in the driver side front wheel arch. If and when an acutator in the HVAC system fails [as they invariably do with age] the ability of the reservoir to maintain the needed level of vacuum is compromised sooner or later. The system should pull and maintain a vacuum of about 20 inches Hg - if and when the level of vacuum drops to about 10 inches Hg the actuator that drives the flappy valve in the inlet manifold will not operate and then you lose a chunk of mid to top end range performance.
I would be interested by a good picture of the nearly same build sticker located under the carpet of the trunk, and also the engine and gearbox numbers.
This second sticker also has the order number of the car (128-????) and the commercial partner code (??????), in small characters.
