Default 17” RUF Speedline wheels on BaT

Received an email notification from BaT featuring these 17” RUF Speedline wheels with 928-friendly offsets. I have no affiliation with seller.

Those would work pretty nicely. What's your bet on the final auction price? $4500 or $9500? I'd believe either one.

Reading the description and the comments, the refinishing appears to have been very professionally done and is probably the closest to brand new that one could get. As such, they won’t be cheap. I wouldn’t be surprised if they surpass $5K.

I’ve had a set of these on my 88.5 944 turbo S since 1992. If they go for north of $10k, mine wiki be for sale!

I had a set of these on my 85, snagged them on ebay for $500 back in 2012. Sure wish I had kept them when I sold the car.

I have a pair of 17" rears brand new in the box - never mounted. Bought them on eBay 20+ years ago for $400.00. Wish I'd found and bought a set of matching fonts.

Darn pretty wheels and I have to check the offset to see what they fit. Will follow up with a photo.

Those speed lines have a ET44 on the front set. The 928 spindle mods I've documented add 16mm of offset into the spindle itself. That would add-up to and effective ET60 on the car (same as the GT). So if someone wanted to run these wheel on a 928 with the right offsets, it could be done.

The front offset is 56.7, the rear is 44. They will work fine.

We've got the 18" version of these wheels on our GT, Fronts: 8.5J x 18 ET 61, rears: 9.5J x 18 ET 48.3. The fit is perfect, in my opinion. I think the 17"s will be very close to the same 1/2" narrower and 4mm less offset.

LOL. I'm always eager to talk my own book. Thanks for pointing that out.

The fronts won't clear the early S4 brake calipers without a spacer. That is why I left these wheels on my 85 when I sold it as they would not clear the calipers on my 87. IIRC later calipers are not an issue.

Interesting. The RUF 18's, or 17"? Our GT has GTS front calipers and no problem with the 18" RUFs. Our '88 S4 is stock but I haven't tried them on that car.

Cheers,

Might be due to the raised "PORSCHE" embossed on the 87 through 89 calipers. I think a sticker replaced that in 90? Could those few mils make a difference?
