I have a 944-flywheel lock and wondering if it will work on 928. The lock fits into 944 starter mounts but wondering if I could use it on my euro 5 speed?.Thanks..
I wish I could post a pic of the 944 loc tool but no way to post a picture I used it mounted in the starter location when doing 944 timing.belt.ai thought it work the same way on 928 instead of using the slave cilinder location. The 928 tool is very pricy for one time use. Thanks Mr. Merlin.
Here's a photo of the 944 flywheel lock (top) and two versions of 928 flywheel locks (the one on the left is for early 16V only, other one works on all 928s I think). As you can see, the 928 ones and the 944 one are quite different. Also, not obvious in the photo from this angle, the 'teeth' stem is taller on both the 928 locks than the 944 one.

CBR944 thanks for posting the pictures. I can see the differences between the two locks. I'm still wondering if the 944 lock could go where starter mounts just like the 944? Seems the starter mounts the same way on both cars. Thanks again..
I've never tried using the 944 lock in the 928 starter hole. Perhaps it might work. One advantage of the 928 lock of course is you don't need to mess around removing the starter, which is a pain on a 944. For info the CTA 3887 lock is about $50. If you might use it at least twice it's good value.
Thanks CBR. I'm just trying to avoid messing with slave cylinder and causing a clutch problem.
Please explain how removing the slave could possibly cause a clutch problem.
(I've been working on these things for 45 years and have yet to see this occur.)
Hi Greg. Just afraid of disconnecting the hydraulic line and having to rebleed the system. I've not done a 928 slave before. Can I just pull the slave cylinder out enough to put in the lock tool without damaging the hard line? Thank you for all your help l

I forgot about that stupid hardline.
Here, seems like every single car gets my modified clutch line, so the master can be removed with the line attached. Also makes bleeding a 10 minute job.
