I've seen that 917 site of his before.
But here is my question:
Are his projects a total scam, to steal people's money?
Or is his idea, that he will advertise first, get the money,
and then turn the money into a real project car?

It seems more likely that he comes up with conceps, like his Mustang stuff,
his 928 supercharger kits, his 917 replica, SuperHummer, etc, and then
advertises these kits, or projects, and then if people come up with the
money, then he tries to build them for the clients. I wonder if he ever
built a 917 himself, or if he just stole the pictures, and the idea?
I'm sure if someone came up with the money for a 1100hp 928,
he would have *tried* to build one. As long as they can keep
giving him money, he will keep going...

He just has to keep coming up with new ideas.

What's next?

BMW? Mercedes? Audi?
Maybe it's time to switch back to domestic...

You know how things grow on you? .... Weirdness here is, this one is .. ungrowing on me. The more pics I see, the less I like it.

The view from the back is ok, if you like the batmobile look.

But the front view is horrible.
Especially the hood bulge, and front spoiler...

Just too many ugly things sticking out everywhere.

If it was all blended together better, and it was just a really wide
widebody, with smooth lines, I might like it. But the hard angles,
sharp transitions, etc, just make it look like you glued a bunch
of random parts all over the car...

It is a lot easier to come up with new ideas than it is to actually come up with new existing, working products. Cash check first, worry about the actual existence of the product you just sold later?

There is someone that was interested in one of the 917 replicas and first talked to Munck and then later talked with the Australian manufacturer. I won't say what he was told by the Australian firm, but if anyone contacted them directly I'd guess that they'd be pretty willing to share their thoughts on putting down a deposit with Eric Munck.

There is a significant number of people who play the "resale" game.

If he sees a cool 917 replica company in Australia, he may consider running an ad here in the US, mark up the price by 50%, and then when someone orders a car, then he takes the money, and orders a kit from that Australian company... So he claims it is his product, but in fact it is not...

I'm sure that is the case with the H2 supercharger kits.
It's probably just a repackaged Vortech kit.

I know a guy just like that.

He advertised a project . . . high interest CDs. People sent him money. He tried to make their money earn the interest rates he'd promised. (I believe that he had convinced himself that he could deliver.) He was not able. Besides, he had to spend some of the money for his living expenses. He had to keep coming up with new ideas to keep bringing in the money. He ran out of new ideas.

Now he's in federal prison for fraud.

Yep.

Taking someone's money, and not delivering what you promised, is pretty damn close to outright theft...

All good intentions aside.

I saw those too. CaptnCarl enjoys a much better reputation than Mr. Munck. He drives and races 928's and frequents/lurks the list here too.

It seems to me that the NACA duct is turned the wrong way to function correctly.

Well, the front ones are right...
My guess is that the rear vents are designed to suck air *out* of the rear fenderwell.
So if aerodynamics work in reverse, it might work...
