Default GTS Leaking differential?

Before I buy a GTS I am looking at, I wanted to pass these pics by anyone here who may have some valuable feedback.

When I inspected the car, I photographed what looked like a quite wet differential. See pics:

Maybe I am massively mistaken, and the leak is from something else. Main question though... it recently had a service in 2022 which among other items, also was oil change, brake fluids, and also on the Porsche invoice was 1 container (1lt?) of Mobil1 SHC 75W-90 Hypoid. From what I read, that would have been for the differential but should have taken 3lt?

In 2020 it also had a Porsche Centre service, with engine oil, ATF22+ATF220, transmission oil filter, brake fluid, etc. and has only travelled 2000km between each service.

When I drove it, there were no noises, and the AT was smooth with good kickdown. Also did some tight turns with no sounds or vibration. If I buy it however, I would need to drive approx 800km home and then park it for the winter. Not easy to get it checked or fixed prior to the drive, so should I risk the 800km? :P

Thanks!

I had no Angst! The car is 30 years old and if you change oil in the transmission it´s a mess!

Aha. I would have thought a Porsche Centre would have cleaned up after themselves though :P So I am guessing too they just topped it off with 1lt. So maybe there is a very slow leak.

I had a diff on my 2007 Landrover Defender that slowly seeped oil. The Landrover service tech just told me to watch it and top it off every couple of years. But as they say with Landrovers... if you don't have any leaks, you don't have any fluids left :P LOL

Super common.

The differential cover gaskets are made from paper, which gets oil soaked after years of use and seep.

Replace the gasket, at your leisure.

Given the amount of gear oil on that invoice, I would have the level checked before driving the car very far.

OK. I forgot to say, but since the latest work that included adding that diff oil (in August), the car has only driven 200km.

Greg, would the green gasket stuff work in this application? The paper gasket always seemed too flimsy for this application given all the forces acting on the transaxle case.
