Question Spoiler refurb

The rear spoiler on my car was painted to match the body when a previous owner had the car resprayed (badly). I've decided to switch to a used black spoiler I have. The black one is a bit weathered so I lightly sanded it and sprayed it with Duplicolor trim and bumper paint (tip I found in and old post by @NC928S4 ). I think it looks alright. It still has a little bit of texture. Were the rear spoilers smooth to the touch when new?

My S-spoiler is textured. It feels like rubber. It has never been painted.

No, they are a porous textured black rubber.

I had really good results using black epoxy paint from advanced auto. It takes multiple coats but very durable.

Additional thoughts:

how do you get the white out of the rubber (Rennlist, 2011)
plasti-dip for rear spoiler (Rennlist, 2017)
