Hey guys,

Thanks again for all of the posts concerning my recent Ebay 2 for 1 purchase. I haven't even gotten the car here and I already have plans. I just sold my Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX and have been toying around with the posibility of using the stereo system in the 928. I know most of you guys will scoff at the thought of putting a "ricer" system in the 928, and that anything less than a Blaupunkt is blasphemy, but I was wondering if anyone has installed any type of in dash monitor based system in their cars. The main draw for me is that I have the navigation system also and would like to still be able to find my way around(I'm in sales). Any thoughts? How difficult is it to get the head unit out and can I use the stock Blaupunkt amp to power the door and rear speakers? I have 3 MTX 12" subs that are mounted in a custom box as well as a 1200 watt MTX amp so the lows are definitely covered. I'm just thinking aloud, but any advice would be greatly appreciated, I'd hate to have to put the stero up for sale on Ebay.

Did you say 1200 watts? WTF? Am I missing something here? That would knock you out of your car wouldn't it?

Congrats on your double purchase. Regarding your stereo system-why is it that so many younger people are infatuated with lottery sized amplification power. As you commence your relationship with your vehicle you will want more power better chassie dynamics--You will. Get rid of that weight. I suggest for the interest in the long term ,get rid of the"Anvil -1200 and look for more efficient speakers. Klipsche are one of the most efficient speakers on the planet and can be bought as seperates through the factory .for example;1watt measured at 1ft = 112db. You can then brag to your bud's that in a couple years this system will make you deaf. Just hope your not driving the 928 then . Mike -You only get to hear once, after that it's -eh!

The most important thing is to have a clean install. Forget the flip-out screen type, they jiggle over bumps and block the AC controls. The only way to go is with a flush design.

I think the in-dash alpine would work well, and I personally use an Eclipse flip up LCD system in mine, and Goldknight has an Alpine flip-up as well. I think 1200 watts is stupid in any hatchback. 800w total power would be overkill even. You can run 75w/ch for your mains (75x4=300) and then a couple hundred for a quality sub in a good box would be plenty. Go to http://www.adireaudio.com/mobile_aud...hma_series.htm and look at the Brahma 10". I've used that in my 87 and its awesome. I deal their stuff by choice, and I can tell you from knowing the owner that its all very nice gear! If you can, buy Zapco for the amps.

In a car like the 928, I have 200 watts powering the front and rears boston acoustics and a 150 powering a single 8" sub bazooka. Its more than enough audio and it sounds great! Actually its too much bass for that little hatchback when I turn the bass way up. Who needs the weight of huge subs anyhow?

Keep the LCD display setup and GPS, that might be a nice edition.

Sell the amps and speakers and put Andy's supercharger kit on there, now thats worth something in a 928. Again you'll be losing the (audio) organ pipes on the engine manifold and adding 200-300 hp.

Who cares if your louder anyhow? Will they be able to keep up with a 600 hp porsche? Probably not.

Thanks for the creative criticism guys. When I originally bought the Mitsubishi, it had the subs nd amps already installed and it was one of those. "Don't fix it if it ain't broke" kinda deals. I have used the Alpine in dash monitor/dvd/nav for about 2 years and love it, and now I'm glad that it doesn't interfere with anything except for the A/C controls. I actually tried to install it in my Maserati Biturbo(don't ask), but it was in the way of the shifter. I'll keep you updated and look for my subs and amp for sale on Ebay...LOL!

I love music more than most but I found than an RMB on one GT and Louis' X pipe on another made all the music I need in the Shark.

I had a 500watt amp in mine with a sub i had to get rid of it. Screws kept falling out of things like the sunroof. And places in the hatch. That was just with a JL Audio 10"
