Shane,

The GT was on EBAY for again 2-3 weeks ago for a flat/no bid price of 24 or 25K, can't remember which. anyway it didn't sell For the miles on it (80 / 90K ?) the car was priced just too high IMHO.
Hows sunny AK?

Part of the 928/993 debate may come down to trust. And, as you know, trust can be lost quickly...and takes a long time to regain (in human relationships anyway....and my car is close behind humans). When I first got my 928 it had been a garage queen and parked a lot..therefore, the expected electrical gremlins (mostly grounds that needed to be cleaned and a few brittle hoses, etc. Nothing really serious). However, if you take off on a long trip and have to spend an extra day or so in RoadKill, Montana and wait for parts, your trust may be shaken. Or if you lose a T-Belt or have an expensive repair or you can't make the price/value leap from Chevy to Porsche. However, many have worked the gremlins out and have reliable daily 928 drivers that they've gained implicit trust in. I have trust in my 928 in two different ways now. First, I (perhaps erroneously) trust that it's running well enough to go anywhere with minimal problems. Second, because I've delved into the mechanics of the 928 (with the help of this and other 928 lists) I have trust that I can diagnose and fix many problems on the road. It's no longer an unknown car to me. Of course, that trust could be compromised if I ever have to flatbed it back home from Southern Utah or some place.

So...in any case, I will keep the 928 because it's the greatest, fastest, and most comfortable car I've owned. However, I like cars and am keeping my eyes open for another fun car to augment the stable. It could be a hot 911 or even one of the more modern Audi Quattros. Something sexy and reliable. The big problem is that few cars approach the 928 in comfort and performance. I can't bear the thought of driving a good looking car that's a dog when you hit the gas peddle. I don't have a problem with the 993 at all. There are days when I miss my 32 Plymouth Street Rod, or any one of the 12 other hot cars I've owned. There are days when I miss my stock 1928 A-Model Ford!!! And my '32 Chevy (I don't miss the '38 Ply that I had). But I don't plan on selling the 928, probably even if I were to get a deal on a 928 GT or GTS.

The accelerated depreciation of the 928 is a concern. It's not yet an investment car like the 911 can be. My son in law can sell his '77 911 Carrera for more than he paid for it...and it's been a daily driver for 8 years.
Any way you cut it, only a few cars are very interesting...most on the road are boring...and the 928 is one of the most interesting cars "out there" and it's pretty unique.

It is a '98 C4S. And yeah I'll invite him down for a ride in a supercharged 928, that might get him to buy another Porsche!

Nothing sunny 'bout Ak today.
