Burning Brakes
making slow progress on the car. Ground out the rear window channels today and liberally applied rust converter, so they can get ready for epoxy.
I also needed to redo the stone chip along the bottom of the passenger door, since the previous body person sanded into it, and it was flaking in spots. A quick mask and an application of 3m rocker panel stone guard made my goal for the weekend
And then I realized the stone chip was also missing on the drivers rear quarter. So I sanded the area with 400 and smoothed out the filler in the area, and did the same procedure on the lower quarter to match the passenger side.
Unfortunately, I'm still having oil leaks with the 2nd oil pan gasket. Super annoying. First was the silicone gasket when the engine was out, and now the fancy green oil resistant gasket also leaks. So I'll most likely be ordering another $75 oil pan gasket and gooping the crap out of it so it doesn't leak.

So I needed to lengthen the clutch pushrod today. Was about an inch short.
Added and inch and rounded the end to get the proper length. Unfortunately, the clutch is broken somewhere.
But I was able to get the passenger door in epoxy, so the whole car is in primer/sealer now.
And with the drivers fender in place
Huge thanks to Rob Edwards for keeping me semi sane through this clutch debacle.
I won't be able to pull the bellhousing and check the clutch until sometime next week. Also have to replace the oil pan gasket, again. Thankfully, Roger sent a new one, but I despise doing the same job twice.
I'll be doing the clutch and the oil pan gasket both for the third time now. So over this car and all the problems already. And I still haven't even driven one. Hope all the pain is worth it.

I didn't work on the clutch today. I had a friend come by and we blocked out the whole rear of the car and the roof. Then he helped me tape and mask the car, and we shot high build primer on the car, which both those actions really helped smooth out the panels and straightened a LOT of small issues.
It won't be a 100 point car, but it's going to be a really nice driver if the clutch issues and fluid leaks ever go away.

Clutch snapring for the T/O bearing popped off. I ordered a new one of those, and hopefully will be here soon. Going to start final prep this week on everything and get all my parts and pieces ready for the paint booth in 2 weeks.

Not much time to update social stuff, but I've got a week before the car goes to the booth, and I was able to lay the last coat of sealer on the front fenders (between 12 hour night shifts)
Also remembered that I forgot to weld the crack in the front fender (in the hood bolt valley) so I had to take care of that along with all the other prep today. Hang fenders back on the car tomorrow and block sand before coming back to work tomorrow night.

I painted the car this last weekend.
I can spot nearly every flaw in the paint job already, but since I did it myself, I am pretty proud of how it turned out, since I have never painted a whole car before, especially metallic, and in a narrow space.

Now that this money hungry pig is starting to take shape, there's a few things I need to find:
I know a few of these items are available new - this is just as much for my brain as for finding parts.
headlight 'wishbones' aka the u-shaped holders of the headlights and covers
battery hold down
covers that go over the HVAC stuff under the hood
hood spray nozzles
hatch seal
wiper cowl grommets
A damaged lens 8" euro light with a good reflector
front S spoiler which I know is new at $1700 but I am not going that route.
I'm sure there is a bunch of other things, will update later as I find out what I'm missing.
I'd get more traffic on the thread with some pictures of females working on my car, but that's just not possible, so I'll hope for the best here.

Great work!
It's no small task prepping, taping, priming and painting a car by yourself.
Congrats!! I know its not perfect, but it looks fantastic.

I'd have to get creative with the female photos....no females around to take pics of, and that's not really my style anyway. Maybe I'll find a cardboard cutout somewhere.
