Default Is This Wheel Repairable?

Haven't had any luck finding a shop that does wheel repair around Portland OR. I have an ew set of different wheels on the way but would like to save this set. They are 17" Razze's and aren't made anymore.

How the heck do you post more than 1 pic in a post?

Jim, just hit the IMG button, enter your image URL, then hit a carriage return, IMG button again, rinse, repeat.

Thanks Dave,
OK, so you can't do it if you are just taking pics out of your photo album?

[Edit] I'd be really surprised if you could get that wheel repaired, but by all means try if it's worth it to you. [/Edit]

Not sure what photo album you mean...

If you have pictures that are posted to your member website for example, http://members.rennlist.com/greatwhi...rash-wheel.jpg

Then what you would do is paste that URL into the dialog that comes up upon clicking the "IMG" button. PM me if you need more help, but lengthy explanations will have to wait until tomorrow.... I'm beat.

the results should look like this(you can see it if you use the quote function):

Yes the wheel probably can be fixed. It may cost about $150 to have it refinished though. I would recommend that you try "Wheels America" out of Chicago. They have a few different locations. I used to use David at the St. Louis, MO location before they moved it up to Chicago. 800 BENT RIM. It think they quote $109 for any rim that has a straight center. Give them a try.

Is that the GT that burned up the rear end? If you want we can do the paint work with all Glasurit products down here in Salt Lake City. We do very nice work and can save you some money if you want to do the reassembly and removal work. Since the quarters were burned a little bit, you really would benefit from good cleaning and then some nice epoxied primer. Just a selfish plug. Let me know if I can be of help. I think I might have a new GTS bumper cover for around $725 if you need as well.

Good luck.

Gretch, thanks for the offer but it will once again terrorize the unsuspecting. I have all the parts needed. It's not as bad as it looks in this pic and in fact has had much work done to it since.

FST951, logistics are the biggest problem but we will have to talk. I think late winter is when I will want it sprayed. My priorities right now are my Red GT so the White GT is on the back burners until late summer. Thanks for the info on the wheel.

Sorry if I "exposed" your "heresy" prematurely.... I just followed your posted pics back to the source, then randomly picked a couple of examples. You'r PC's photo album is no help unfortunately; you can only put images in your post if they are already out on the internet somewhere.

Dave, just kidding, it was about time I came out of the closet. Didn't know anyone ever looked at my site. My goal for the site is for it to eventually be a link to all other good links about 928's. There is nothing I can add to the great stuff already out there so I want to make it easier to find. Thank for the posting help.

Nicobel, garage fire, bad deal. The amazing thing is the interior is not "stink" damaged! This is my project for the year and will be as beautiful as the day it was "born" by this time next year.

Jim...

One thing to remember is that many PCA regions will not accept a repaired rim during the car inspection for a DE or PCA race. Seems to be a pretty significant tear....

Good luck in your hunt for replacement..just keep your eyes open....they are out there...

Later,
Tom
