Thanks all, I'll consider options now for repair or replacement.

In the interim is there any way (simply and practically) to rig the AC to run full time? Coming into spring here and whilst the temperatures here do not reach these extremes of some pace we have a much higher UV level and that hot sun pouring into the greenhouse that is the 928 makes it fairly uncomfortable for half of the year.

Just add a small jumper wire as shown;

Good for now that you have just a jumper and removed the relay.

It looks rather better than I imagined. It seems pins 5 & slightly 6 have some extra tinning added to the edge connector. It would be good to try to get that levelled back out (its hard to tell how bad it actually is).

If needed heat it up and wipe it away off the edge to flatten & smooth it down. Extra thickness & roughness there will damage the edge connector female terminals...

It really is quite minor, this photo after a bit more clean up. I'd like to take a little more off pin 5 but there's not enough on there to cause a connector problem or damage the female side.

Now tested in the car, jumper works perfectly, I have freezing air anytime I turn the blower on :-)

Numbers by the holes on the pcb relates to the traces on the board not the relay pins.

Use a DVM on continuity mode to verify the non visually obvious connections - but whichever of those two go back to 4 & 7 both of those are coil pins and the coil orientation doesn't matter for these relays...

Worked perfectly to identify 5, 6, 8, 9. But not getting any continuity on 4 or 7. Meter is just showing 1. Does that indicate something else wrong on the board?

Possibly - but use continuity (diode tester) not ohms mode and try with the probes reversed and try both sides of the board - make sure you are contacting bare metal (solder, clean trace).

Never used that setting before, that beep is quite handy! Unfortunately same result, good beep on 5, 6, 8, 9. Nothing on 4 & 7. Only able to test one side of the board as the holes have no trace/solder on one side.

Try Trace# 11 & #15 against those relay pads - again using continuity/diode tester mode. These are not the primary pins of interest but they should also work.

Also test for continuity between Trace #4 and #15 (again there is a diode).

Getting nothing on 11 & 15 either.... and nothing between and 4 & 15.

While I'm here, any tips for fitting the 16awg into the holes in the pcb, it's a little large. Do I drill them out slightly or trim a few strands off the wire?
