I picked up an 85' 32V with the late style electric seats. I got some early manual seats I want to swap in, but I noticed my manual seats do not have a bracket to mount the seatbelts like the later style does on the seat rail. I know on the early 944's the seatbelts are mounted directly to the chassis near the torque tube. Before I start tearing up the carpeting to see if there is a mounting point for the belts, I thought I'd ask here!
The early cars have the seat belt receiver mounted to the center tunnel. At some point that changed and the receiver was mounted to the seats. I don't know if when that occurred they left the threaded mounting hole in the tunnel or not as both of my cars ('79 & '84) have them mounted to the tunnel.
Hmmm, yeah. I know the seat rails match up. Perhaps if there isn’t a mounting point on the 85’+ 928s, I can weld on a nut to support the seatbelt if the threads don’t exist under the carpeting….
