+1 on the Dwayne's Garage reference.

Also, Scott Yoo did a very good documentation on his 1986.5 top end refresh, (which is very similar to the 1985, especially the plenums.

The paper intake gasket isńt the best choice for the task. Use the later one made of steel with rubber on it. Look if the intake is straight.

Run a rasp/file down the length of the surfaces to check for level..
