Default 1985 928 32V Project Car questions

Hello fellow Rennlisters! Long time lurker, first time poster. I looked in the PET, but didn’t see what this broken connection is for -

What is this broken connection?

I just picked up a non-running 1985 32V 928 that’s been sitting outside since 2004. Not interested in any while-you-are-in-there projects at the moment. My only goal right now is to get a new timing belt on and get the engine fired up. I have much experience working on 944s and also have an ‘84 928 16V.

Thanks for the help!

I believe that’s the short connection between the injection harness and the throttle position sensor (TPS).

And I left out the important bit, it’s Item #5 on PET page 902-08.

Shoot, I forget how many connections there are for that plug, but this might be helpful: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/...coYQqPGQwrVvSA

The female housings are pretty easy to find; I struggled with some of the male connector ends.

Cheers

Roger sells new short harnesses they are plug and play .

NOTE its common for the connector to crumble,
the same kind of damage is going on inside the old wire as well.
Best to install a new short harness on your TPS

You have multiple S3 owners very near you, join the NorCal 928 owners group on Facebook and ask for help if you need an extra set of eyes and/or hands as you get your car ready to fire up.

Yep! Joined that group before even owning my first 928. Thanks for the great tip!
