Perlglanz Returns to the United States
As many of you know, Rennlister Alex VanDamme and his brother Sig recently purchased the famous “Perlglanz” 1995 928 GTS. This car is the final production US 928, the most heavily optioned 928 ever built, and has lived in obscurity for most of its life - particularly the past 23 years in France.
The car was recently imported, and has now made its way to Virginia Beach where I have the honor of preparing it for an unveiling at Rendezvous 928 this year at the PVGP. Seeing this car in person has been a surreal experience. I remember reading about it as a kid, and just fantasizing about seeing it in person someday. Over the years, I attempted to track the car down, mostly without success.
Without turning this post into a dissertation, I just want to say that seeing this car, interacting with it, and playing a minor role in its history is truly the highlight of my life as a car enthusiast. There will be much more to come, but for now, I’ll go ahead and conclude with a few beauty shots, as I know that’s what you all are waiting for!
(Apologies for the shadows - I wanted to get direct sunlight photos to showcase the color, but my timing was slightly off).

Found the options sticker!
Manufacturer of the carpet. The carpet is much lower pile and more dense than in any other 928 I’ve seen.
Rear quarter panels in good shape

I can understand (I think) how you feel being this close to that very unique 928.
We are very lucky (us in the USA and Canada) to have that car closer than ever.
I can't wait to see both #1 and this car at the PVGP and take (many!) pictures.
Those cars are one of the reason I'll be there this year...
A big thanks to Alex and his brother to let us live this.
And to Andrew too of course with #1.
Seeing those two cars together will be an ''once in a life experience'' for any 928 fan. Not to be mist...
Keep the pictures coming please...

Unfortunately we haven't been able to track it down yet. Alex and I have spoken to the salesman who sold the car twice at Champion (to the original purchaser and then to the French owner), and he informed me that the dealer never actually conveyed the extra materials with the vehicle. The owner of the dealership (at the time) kept the items with the intention of reupholstering the chairs in the upstairs lounge of the dealership - evidently this never happened. The owner has since passed away, and his son has thus been unsuccessful in tracking the extra materials down. As for the paint, I suspect that was in some type of carboy-like container, similar to what you get if you buy 20L of coolant from Porsche.
