Declassifying the B-2 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _.
Has anyone out there, anywhere, repaired their own 4 speed automatic transmission?! My B2 brake band piston is destroyed. That's all!! I do not need a new/rebuilt transmission. What I need to know from the intelligentsia, is the improved version part#. I've asked the B3 and not 1 of them knows anything. Not even the 1or 2 that rebuilds them. Hope I don't have to do some cast iron welding. Must be classified!!!!!!!!! I know ,I know if you tell me then ,you'll have to kill me! I'll be hiding under the car where the transmission is supposed to be. Thankyou. Mike

The B-3 doesn't rebuild them. They send all that stuff out. Call a good local Mercedes shop and I bet they have repaired in house more than the B-3 have sold altogether!!! The transmission is pretty straightforward actually. Did your shift band just break or did is shatter with little parts and pieces everywhere.....?

Check out www.mercedesshop.com - go to the forum, and post asking about it. I believe I have read about B2 piston failures, and the fix. DO a search on B2 specifically....

You could have changed the servo with the trans. in the car; clean the servo bore with red scotch bright. You should also change the front seal and torque converter flange bearings.

Steves right. If it is just the servo-piston, it can be done easily in the car. If you take the trans down, do all the outer seals since they tend to leak an only cost about $50 for everything. Best of luck.

Yes ,I did realize that I didn't have to take the tranny out to remove the B2 piston but my curiosity got the better of me. I hate just scratching the surface. Anyway, converter seals have been weeping for quite some time and I'm getting a little clunk and funk in the L.S.D. It was quite dirty under there and I hate it, I hate it ,I hate it! Scott ,hi there .Iwill post some pics. as soon as I figure out how? To all that have replied THANK-YOU, Dont stop the info. Mike
